Title: Spatially Resolved Mid-Infrared Spectroscopy of Debris Disks and Embedded YSOs

Co-author: Alistair Glasse

Co-authors' Institutions: UK ATC, Edinburgh

Abstract:

We will present spatially resolved mid-infrared spectroscopy of the disks surrounding three young stars, HR 4796A, beta Pictoris and HD100546. Observations were conducted at both 10 and 20 μm for HR 4796A and HD100546, and 20 μm for beta Pic, using the T-ReCS instrument at Gemini-S in 2005 and 2006. We will examine the properties of the dust in each disk as inferred from our data, including its spatial location, mineralogy, temperature and size. Additionally, we will present both Michelle and T-ReCS spectroscopy toward a sample of embedded massive YSOs, with emphasis on an absorption band around 11 μm and it possible carrier(s).
