Title: Dark matter in early-type galaxies

Abstract:

Due to the absence of circular rotation, the dark matter distribution in early-type galaxies is less well investigated than in spiral galaxies. To constrain mass profiles of elliptical galaxies at large radii, globular clusters are the most important dynamical probes. We report on a long-term programme on the dynamics of halos of early-type galaxies, in which GMOS South is used to obtain radial velocities of globular clusters around early-type galaxies.
