Title: Dissecting Quasars with Microlensing

Co-author: Rachel Webster Nick Bate Randall Wayth Kathleen Labrie

Co-authors' Institutions: University of Melbourne University of Melbourne Gemini CFA

Abstract:

We present the first results from our program to use differential microlensing to map the inner structure of lensed quasars. In 2006A we observed nine gravitationally lensed quasars with the GMOS-N and GMOS-S IFUs. Strong differential microlensing was observed in most cases, allowing us to place new constraints on the sizes of the continuum and broad line regions. The data has also provided a unique and powerful constraint on the kinematics of the broad line gas.
