Abstract:

We report results obtained from infrared spectroscopic observations of luminous sources belonging to three young stellar clusters containing massive stars, named RCW 41, RCW 95 and RCW 106 using GEMINI Near Infrared Spectrograph (GNIRS). The main scope of this work is to obtain spectral classification of the most luminous stars of each cluster. Once the spectral type is determined, stellar luminosities can be inferred, which are eventually used to determine the distance to the cluster. This was done using a method that combines spectral classification and near-infrared photometry.

Comments:

This work makes use of NIR spectroscopic observations made in 2006 (January 26 and January 27), using GNIRS.
