Location

The Science and User's conference will be held in the Pacifico Meeting Room of the Mabu Thermas & Resort  in Foz do Iguaçu on Monday June 11 through Friday June 15, 2007.  Internet communication is provided by the hotel. The Gemini/NGO's Staff conference will be held in the Montevideo Meeting Room.

Overview of Schedule of Conference and Related Activities

The conference will consist of approximately sixty oral 20-minute presentations of scientific results from the Gemini North and South Telescopes, plus posters. It also will include a day Users' Session, which will include presentations on future instrumentation, software development, etc., as well as considerable time for discussion. Speakers at the scientific sessions should anticipate having 15 minutes to talk and should allow 5 of their 20 minutes for questions.  An attempt will be made to distribute the presentations among the Gemini partner countries in the approximately the same proportions as telescope time is distributed.

The staffs of the National Gemini Offices will meet in  on Friday, June  15.

Instructions for Conference Registration

If you wish to attend this conference you must first fill out and submit the registration form. There is no registration fee. If you wish to present a talk or a poster, you must provide a title and preliminary abstract on the form. After you submit the registration form, a representative of the SOC/LOC will inform you as to whether you are "accepted". At that time you should make hotel reservations.

Be aware that due to space and time restrictions, it may not be possible to "accept" all applications for participation. Moreover, not all successful applicants may be elected to deliver a presentation. Some applicants may be asked to deliver their presentation in a different form than your original choice (oral or poster).  Although attendance at the conference is not strictly "first come - first served", it is strongly advised that you submit the form early.

The hotel prices depend on the day exchange. The exchange rate is approximately U$1.00 USA ~ R$ 2,20 Brazil. Value for apartment/day: (city taxes are included).
