Title: Characterizing the Outer Planet Atmospheres with Gemini

Co-author:

Co-authors' Institutions:

Abstract:

Mid-infrared spectroscopy and imaging of outer planets is used to characterize atmospheric chemistry and dynamics. For example, the distribution of hydrocarbon emission on Neptune deduced from Gemini mid-infrared images indicates its stratospheric dynamical circulation is similar to that seen on Saturn. I will review these observations, as well as highlights from other Gemini observational programs for outer planets, including high-resolution spectroscopy of Neptune and imaging of Jupiter.
