Título: Tracing Cluster Evolution through Strong and Weak Gravitational Lensing

Resumo: We propose to use SOAR/SOI to perform a survey for gravitational arcs in galaxy clusters designed to test the evolution of cluster mass profiles. By observing a large cluster sample selected from deep SDSS imaging, this program will provide constraints on the arc incidence, lead to the discovery of new strong lensing systems, and enable weak lensing mass estimations for ensembles of clusters in two redshift intervals, providing clues on cluster evolution. The homogeneous selection criteria, depth and quality of the images, and a clear focus on evolution makes this proposal unique in terms of cluster scale strong lensing surveys.
