Título: The Environment of the QSO Triplet 2354-2848 Resumo: We request time of OSIRIS to do J and K imaging of a triplet of physically close QSOs, with the goal of studying their environment. The triplet is at z~1.7 and has projected angular separation of 3.6 Mpc. Quasars are rare astronomical objects and their presence forming a close triplet suggests that they are likely in an extremely rich environment at very high redshift. The imaging proposed here, together with the r' and i' imaging requested in our SOAR proposal 1 (Sp1), are optimal to detect red objects at z~1.5-1.7 using color-magnitude and color-color diagrams. |
