Título: Optical investigation of new isolated neutron stars candidates

Resumo: We found in the recently released 2XMM catalogue a handful of sources with no counterparts and with X-ray spectra similar to those of the ROSAT discovered isolated neutron stars, but seen at larger distances. We propose to study the optical content of the XMM error circles down to R = 24 to exclude the presence of other possible identifications for the candidates observable during period B. Beyond the finding of new members, our study aims at constraining the space density of this group at large distances and at determining whether their apparently high local density is an anomaly or not.
