Título: Photometry of Compact Binary Supersoft Sources: the orbital period of RXJ0439.8-6809

Resumo: ): The Compact Binary Supersoft X-Ray Sources (CBSS) are a group of extragalactic stars that are copious sources of supersoft X-ray emission. This class of object has been recently considered as good candidates to the SN Ia progenitors, as their compact component are probably massive WDs suffering intense mass accretion. In this project we propose to use the SOAR Optical Imager to study RX J0439.8-6809, a CBSS located at the Large Magellanic Cloud. The goal is to determine the yet unknown orbital period of this CBSS and study the hipothesis of this object being a double degenarate binary.
