Título: Properties of Extragalactic Cluster Systems from combined SOAR, HST and Chandra data

Resumo: Deep images with SOAR/OSIRIS will be obtained for NGC 1380, a luminous early-type galaxy for which deep HST data are available only in the optical. Deep SOI images have also been requested. The purpose is to study the cluster system and to infer the ages and metallicities of its cluster sub-populations, especially those of the recently identified Faint Fuzzies and Diffuse Star Clusters. The combined data from HST, SOI and OSIRIS will result in BVIJHKs photometry, to be compared to simple stellar population models and circumvent the age-metallicity degeneracy. Cluster sizes have already been obtained from the V HST data. The cluster system properties constrain the star formation history of its host galaxy as star clusters are expected to form in the significant event of star formation events of their host.
