Título: Properties of Extragalactic Cluster Systems from combined SOAR, HST and Chandra data

Resumo: Deep images with SOAR/SOI will be obtained for two luminous early-type galaxies for which deep HST data are available. The purpose is to study their cluster systems, as these harbor information on the formation and evolution of their hosts. Deep SOI images in the I band for NGC 1380, an S0 galaxy in the Fornax cluster, will be combined with B and V band HST data yielding wide and deep coverage of the luminosity function, size and colour distribution of its clusters. For NGC 1600, a luminous elliptical with complex difuse and point-souce X-ray emission, the SOI images in B and I, in combination with HST V band data, will allow an assessment of its unstudied system. The optically identified clusters will be matched to X-ray point sources, allowing assessment of the relation between the cluster and X-ray properties.
