Título: Stellar occultations by solar system bodies in the Gaia era

Resumo: Distant objects in the solar system are key to better understand the history and evolution of its outskirts. The stellar occultation technique allows the determination of their sizes and shapes with kilometric accuracy (leading to albedos and densities), the detection of very tenuous atmospheres (few nanobars), as well as an investigation of the immediate vicinity of the target body (presence of rings, satellites, jets, chams). Since the first release of the astrometry from the Gaia space mission, great progress has been done in the prediction of these events. Here, we propose to use our visitor instrument (Raptor EMCCD camera) installed at SOAR to sample stellar occultations with both high SNR and high temporal resolution. Among our overall goals, are: monitor existing rings and atmospheres, and also discover new and exciting features on other TNOs and Centaurs, like the ring recently discovered around the dwarf planet Haumea. For this, we request 4h (12h with payback) in ToO mode, enough (best of cases) to observe up to 4 events
