Título: Measuring the black hole mass in a gamma-ray detected NLS1

Resumo: We propose the first optical monitoring campaign for a gamma-ray detected narrow line Seyfert 1. There are very few of this AGN subclass, yet they are now receiving intensive scrutiny, because they are a means to study the accretion-disc, jet connection. A crucial unanswered question is what affect does inclination have on the observed permitted line widths? Using the ideal target, PNM J0948+0022, and with good cadence (one observation every 1-2 weeks), we seek to answer this question and to constrain the black hole mass which is an essential ingredient for modelling the spectral energy distribution. Because of the wide wavelength coverage extending into the ultraviolet due to its redshift, we will also be able to investigate variations in accretion flow and its influence on the accretion disc.
