Título: Star clusters in the outer regions of the Small Magellanic Cloud
Resumo: The evolution of the Magellanic Clouds is presently under debate. The classical scenario where both Large and Small Magellanic Clouds (LMC, SMC) are orbiting the Milky Way has been challenged by another where the LMC and SMC are in their first close passage to our Galaxy. Stellar population studies in the galaxies should constrain the proposed scenarios. We have shown using SOI/SOAR data that west halo clusters exhibit age and metallicity radial gradient that constrasts with other regions of the SMC (Dias et al. 2014, 2016b). The interpretation is that this group was segregated from the main body by tidal forces. The other external regions wing/bridge and counter-bridge seem to have gradients as well based on heterogeneous and incomplete set of parameters from the literature (Dias et al. 2016b). More data is needed to complete the sample. We propose to observe 30 star clusters in the outer regions of the SMC with SOI and SAM to characterise the radial gradients and tidal interactions.
