Título: Halpha survey of Star-Forming Compact Groups
Resumo: We request H alpha imaging for 25 galaxies in Star-Forming Compact Groups (SFCGs) from a sample of 280 groups recently identified in the GALEX All-sky Imaging Survey. The SFCG sample presents a combination of properties different from the group samples studied up to now, such as low velocity dispersions ~120 km/s, small dynamical time-scales ~0.7 Gyr and a high star-forming fraction ~95%. The proposed Halpha imaging will allow us to better characterize the evolutionary stage of SFCGs by spatially resolving star-formation in the members, and detecting extra-galactic gas-rich tidal streams indicative of ongoing pre-processing or the formation of tidal dwarf galaxies. We expect, among other tasks, to investigate the main mechanisms of interactions, the presence of TDGs and truncated disks related to interactions. The sample we plan to study here already has redshifts for all galaxies of the group, therefore we know they are bonafide groups. In case it is necessary, this run will also be used to test the SAM Fabry-Perot that is soon to be released to the community for general use.
