Título: Identifying Carbon Enhanced Metal-Poor Stars in the RAVE Catalogue

Resumo: We propose to determine carbon abundance ratios, [C/Fe], for a sample of previously identified bright very metal-poor stars, by obtaining follow-up medium-resolution spectroscopy of candidates selected from the RAVE (RAdial Velocity Experiment). We prepared a list of 102 candidates, with 8 < J <10, and available at essentially all RAs. Our goal is to use SOAR/Goodman to obtain spectra for all these candidates, using 5 nights in 2016A. These spectra will be used to confirm the available atmospheric parameters from RAVE, as well as to determine [C/Fe], using our spectroscopic analysis pipeline. This information will enable the identification of many new carbon-enhanced metal-poor (CEMP) stars, including representatives of the inner- and outer-halo populations, for which high-resolution spectroscopy can be carried out from the ground with the VLT/UVES, and from space with HST/STIS or COS.
