Título: Probing accretion on the high-magnetized polar RX J1007.5-2017: from secondary star to the white-dwarf surface Resumo: We propose to obtain time-resolved spectroscopy of the polar RX J1007.5-2017, a system with extreme conditions in the accretion flow. RX J1007.5-2017 has some observational peculiarities: conspicuous optical cyclotron harmonics; a very soft X-ray spectrum; and no polarization in R and I bands. These characteristics may be related to a very strong white-dwarf magnetic field (~100 MG on surface) and a low accretion rate. In order to understand the accretion in this high-magnetized system, we adopt two approaches based on time-resolved optical spectra. First, we will perform a multiwavelength modeling of continuum emission of the accretion column: cyclotron emission in optical and bremsstrahlung in X-ray domain. Secondly, using Doppler tomography, we will search for the location of the line emission. The narrow component of the Balmer emission lines comes from regions near the secondary star, sometimes being associated to its magnetic structures. Hence, we aim to study the mass flow from the secondary star to the white-dwarf surface in a system with a very large magnetosphere. |
