BRAVO@LNA

Projects

Currently, the Laboratório Nacional de Astrofísica (LNA) is investing in the creation of a Virtual Observatory dedicated to Southern Astrophysical Research Telescope (SOAR) data from Brazilian astronomers. The effort and the investment to implement a structure for a SOAR Virtual Observatory (SOAR-VO) can be maximized if not only the Brazilian data are considered but also that of the partners. A portal to access the SOAR data is already being developed and the compatibility of metadata from SOAR with VO protocols and software is being tested. The LNA has received a data server to storage the data from SOAR. The server is a Hewlett Packard with 14 Terabytes of disk with a quad core processor and it is dedicate and optimized to data transfer and VO services. In Brazil, LNA has as partner the LAC/INPE (Associated Laboratory of Science Associate Laboratory for Computing and Applied Mathematics of National Institute for Space Research) to develop SOAR-VO. LAC/INPE has a computer science team that is collaborating to develop tools and integrate their facilities to SOAR-VO. Johns Hopkins University is also a partner of SOAR-VO training our specialized staff.
